15 arrested, including women who advertised sexual services and teens for unlicensed moneylending

Fve men and ten women, aged between 16 and 64, were nabbed for various offences following a six-day joint enforcement operation conducted from Nov 17 to 22.

Led by Ang Mo Kio Police Division, the operation saw more than 400 people, as well as 89 residential and commercial units in Ang Mo Kio, Kovan, Sembawang and Yishun, checked.

The suspects include nine women and one man, aged between 21 to 39, who were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.

The women allegedly advertised their sexual services online and operated within residential units in Kovan and Yishun residential estates.

Fifteen handphones were seized as case exhibits.

The man, aged 33, was believed to have rented a residential unit which was used for the illicit activities, said the police in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 28).

Vice activities were detected in one licensed massage establishment, while another massage establishment was found to be operating without a valid licence and offering sexual service within its premises.

A 55-year-old woman was also arrested at one of the massage establishments for offences under the Women’s Charter.

In addition, two men, aged 30 and 64, were caught for their suspected involvement in online scams.

Another two male teenagers, both aged 16, were arrested for unlicensed moneylending offences.

Investigations into these cases are ongoing.

"The police will spare no effort to stamp out illegal activities and those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law," added the statement.
