14-year-old cyclist killed in accident with trailer at Marina East Drive, driver arrested

A 14-year-old cyclist died in an accident with a trailer along Marina East Drive on Monday afternoon (May 31).

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the fatal accident at 4.25pm.

The male teenager was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic and the 37-year-old male driver was arrested for careless driving causing death.

Facebook page Roads.sg posted photos taken at the accident scene and said the trailer had "ran over" the cyclist.

A Malaysia-registered truck can be seen in front of a bicycle, which had broken into two.

Police investigations are ongoing.
