13 arrested for vice-related activities: Women allegedly operated from hotels, rented apartments

Two men and eleven women, aged between 23 and 43, were arrested for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities during a two-day operation that ended on June 28.

Officers from Central Police Division conducted a series of raids along Queens Street, Kitchener Road and Race Course Road, resulting in the arrests.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the women were believed to be operating from hotels and rented apartments, said the police.

Investigations against the thirteen suspects are ongoing.

The police added in its statement: "Landlords and hotel owners are advised to ensure that tenants do not carry out vice activities in their premises."

Unlicensed brothel operators can be given a maximum fine of $10,000 and/or up to five years of jail.

Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person can be jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000.
