12 women, 2 men arrested for various offences involving drugs, liquour and Women's Charter

Twelve women and two men, aged between 20 and 47, were arrested during a series of enforcement operations against massage establishment and public entertainment outlets on Sep 5 and 6. 

During the operations conducted by the Central Police Division, which took place along Jalan Besar, Jalan Sultan and Crawford Lane, one unlicensed massage establishment was detected and one licensed massage establishment was found to have contravened licensing conditions. 

Three women, aged between 29 and 44, were arrested for drug-related offences. A 28-year-old woman was arrested for an offence under the Women's Charter.

During the enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets, two outlets were found to have contravened the licensing conditions. 

Eight women, aged between 20 and 35, were arrested for working without valid work permits under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. A 39-year-old man was arrested for an offence under the Liquor Control Act and another 47-year-old man was arrested for drug-related offences.

Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act and Massage Establishment Act.

In a statement, the police said that they a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take tough enforcement stance against such activities.
