12 arrested for immigration-related offences including being illegal workers, overstaying

A total of 12 men, aged between 20 and 32, were arrested for various immigration-related offences in a multi-agency joint enforcement operation that took place on July 19.

The operation, which was conducted in the vicinity of Yew Tee Industrial Estate and Pang Sua Park Connector, involved officers from the Singapore Police Force, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), and Singapore Customs.

The operation also targeted immigration offenders who were believed to be involved in the peddling of duty-unpaid cigarettes.

Among the 12 men arrested during the operation, 10 of them, aged between 21 and 32, were arrested for immigration-related offences such as overstaying in Singapore.

The remaining two men, aged 20 and 23, were arrested for being suspected illegal workers. 

A total of 92 cartons, 257 packets, and 66 sticks of assorted brands of duty-unpaid cigarettes were also seized.

Investigations are ongoing.
