10 women arrested in operation against massage parlours and public entertainment outlets

Ten women, aged between 22 and 38, were arrested during a two-day enforcement operation against massage establishments and public entertainment outlets on May 16 and 17.

The checks were conducted along Outram Road, Eng Hoon Street, South Bridge Road, Rochor Road, Lavender Street and Aliwal Street by Central Police Division.

Two unlicensed massage establishments were detected and a 27-year-old woman was nabbed for offences under the Women’s Charter, said the police in a statement.

During the enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets, three of them were found to have contravened public entertainment licensing conditions.

Eight women were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act while a 31-year-old woman was apprehended for disorderly behaviour under the Miscellaneous Offence Act.

Investigations are ongoing.

Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Massage Establishment Act and Public Entertainment Act, said the police, adding that they "will continue to take tough enforcement action against those found breaking the law".
