Chinese actress Fan Bingbing was named Best Actress at the 11th Asian Film Awards held in Hong Kong's cultural centre on Tuesday (March 21).
She played a country bumpkin who was accused of adultery in the Chinese comedy 'I am not Madame Bovary', which also won awards for Best Film and Best Cinematographer.
According to Reuters, the actress said that this was her favourite role to date even though it was challenging.
However, it was South Korean erotic thriller The Handmaiden that emerged as the biggest winner that night with four awards.
Moon So-ri and Kim Tae-ri clinched awards for Best Supporting Actress and Best Newcomer respectively, while the film received nods for its costume and production designs.
Hong Kong singer-actress Sammi Cheng also won the excellence in Asian cinema award for her contributions to the Asian film industry, Lianhe Wanbao reported.
She has acted in more than 30 films since her silver screen debut in 1992.
