Collector buys $52,000 Iraqi tank on eBay -- then makes discovery of his life inside

A tank collector in Northamptonshire, UK, made the discovery of a lifetime after purchasing a used Iraqi tank for £30,000 (S$52,434).

According to The Daily Mail, Nick Mead initially expected to find weapons in the heavy vehicle that he purchased on eBay.

However, he had an extremely pleasant surprise after his mechanic pulled out five gold bars from the tank's diesel container.

The bars were worth more than the tank itself. The metal plates had a price tag of £2,000,000 (S$3,496,067), 66 times more than what he spent on his purchase.

The gold bars were believed to have been looted by Iraqi soldiers during the invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
