Sib Hashian, drummer for veteran American rock band Band, died on Wednesday (March 22) in the middle of a performance on a cruise ship. He was 67.
According to reports, he was performing on a Legends of Rock-themed cruise when he collapsed without warning. Despite receiving medical attention, including the use of CPR and a defibrillator, he could not be revived. The cause of death remains unknown, but his son Adam told People magazine that the family believes Hashian suffered a heart attack.
The cruise departed from Florida on March 18 and was scheduled to make various Caribbean stops including the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
Hashian was not Boston's original drummer but he was with the band from their self-titled debut album in 1976. Since then, the band have released six albums and sold 75 million records, and are responsible for hits such as Amanda and More Than A Feeling.
