Woman climbs into X-ray machine at China railway station -- to be near her bag

A woman from Southern China who could not bear to be parted with her purse, accompanied it through a train station's luggage X-ray machine amid the Chinese New Year holiday rush.

A video of the incident that happened in the southern city of Dongguan on Feb 11 was uploaded on Pear Video's Facebook page and picked up online by other media.

In the video, a guard is telling the woman that small bags need to go in the x-ray machine too.

In the footage, she is seen emerging from the machine.

Still X-ray images online show a woman on all fours, kneeling among the bags and other items.

According to People's Daily, the woman said she wrote through the security screening machine because she wanted to protect her money.

Many Chinese migrant workers carry their annual earnings in cash when travelling back home to their families during the Chinese New Year holiday, the busiest travel period of the year.

"Passengers are warned that not only is this kind of behaviour forbidden, but also the radiation from the machine is incredibly harmful to human health," the People's Daily said.
