Man lost chance to expose upskirt pervert on MRT due to fear of embarrassment

Stomper Xavier regrets that he did not confront a possible pervert he spotted on the MRT after fearing embarrassment, and says that he will do so next time.

Here is his entry for this month's What Say You topic:

"I would like to share an incident that occurred back in Oct 2015. While I was on the train, seated, I saw a middle age guy carrying a laptop bag of sort, standing close behind a lady who was wearing slightly above knee length skirt.

"Initially, it did not seem anything out of the ordinary as the train was quite crowded.

"However, as the train passed several stations, I noticed the guy shifted his laptop bag, such that one half of his bag was unzipped and underneath the lady's skirt. The lady was oblivious to her surrounding as she was using her phone.

"At that point in time, I was wondering if the guy was a pervert trying to take up-skirt pictures of the lady. I was debating with myself whether I should confront the guy and risk an embarrassment if he was not guilty or expose a dirty pervert.

"Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to do anything as when the train pulled into the next station, the guy waited for the announcement 'Door's closing' before rushing out. As the train pulled away from the station, I vividly saw him smiling to his phone.

"At that moment, I was cursing myself why did I let a potential pervert escape, I should have taken the risk of a public outburst.

"From this, I have decided that if I were to witness such an incident again, I would ask the victim to move away first before confronting the 'unusual' activity of the suspicious person which might escalate to requesting help from the relevant authorities.

"The most I have to lose is only embarrassing myself, but if I was correct, I would have helped protect the modesty of our female counterpart."
