Love Story: Despite mum's disapproval of our 14-year age difference, we've been happily married for 10 years

Many a time, parents tend to disapprove of their daughters dating someone older then them -- let alone marry them.

Imagine telling your mum that you want to marry someone who is 14 years older than you. Wondering how that went down?

Well, here is a hint: Felicia and her husband have been blissfully wedded together for 10 years now, and they have three beautiful kids too!

This is her entry for Stomp's Valentine's Day Love Story contest:

"'He is old and broke -- are you kidding me, my dear daughter?' cried my mum. I vividly recall the day I told my mother I decided to get married.

"My dad, he passed away when I was 30-years-old.

"Indeed, I was old enough to be a parent -- ripe old age to be getting hitched.

"But I wasn't.

"My then boyfriend attended my father's funeral, and my current husband was there for three solid nights.

"In no way would I have imagined my colleague, a man who is 14 years older, to be my husband and the father of our three beautiful kids.

"It happened after my father's passing -- I unknowingly got close to my hubby.

"We were just casual colleagues back when we were working at a huge, renown construction company. We barely had meals together.

"He was that approachable colleague who was always willing to lend a hand. He even treated the construction workers like his friends.

"We came from very different backgrounds too.

"I came from an affluent family, and was driving a big cc car to work, while he was just riding a humble motorcycle, and residing in a Condominium located in the East.

"It's been 10 years of a strong bonded marriage, and I am proud to announce that we have never fought before.

"We are no ordinary couple, and maybe our age gap does plays a part. He is of a very matured man, and we think alike.

"We share the same interest in building, so there's so much to learn from him.

"He is there for me whenever I wish to trash out my work worries, and he is such a bubbly angel to the kids.

"And I wish to thank my mother who has been so supportive of me, despite the initial rejection of our relationship.

"Till today, I do not regret believing my loving hubby has always been and still is the perfect husband, and a wonderful patient daddy to the three very young kids.

"To my ever supportive husband Mr. BH Tan, we are one small little happy family. Not only have you been providing me the luxurious life my late dad used to provide me with, but you have also enhanced my life with three gorgeous and brilliant kids.

"I LOVE YOU WHOLE HEARTLY, MY DARLING HUBBY.

"Happy Valentines Day!
