Thick black smoke seen around Jurong came from fire at 1 Penjuru Rd

Stompers Karna, Ross and Andy alerted Stomp to thick black smoke seen at different parts of Jurong East, which came from a fire at 1 Penjuru Road this afternoon (Apr 19).

The Stompers were at the JTC building, Genting Hotel and Westgate Tower respectively at around 2pm when they spotted the plumes of smoke.

Said Andy:

"The people around me were in shock when they saw the smoke." 

A spokesperson from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp: 

"SCDF was alerted to a fire at 1 Penjuru Road at 2.15pm. SCDF dispatched two Fire Engines, two Red Rhinos, two Fire Bikes and one support vehicle.

"The fire involved contents outside a building and the fire was extinguished by SCDF using two water jets.

"There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation."
