Lorry driver killed after colliding with tipper truck along KJE

A lorry collided with the back of a tipper truck along the Kranji Expressway (KJE) on Wednesday afternoon (March 29), costing the life of its driver.

The accident happened near the Choa Chu Kang Way exit, in the direction of the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), at about 2.20pm.

The lorry's cab was smashed in and severely damaged. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said its personnel used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the driver, from the vehicle.

SCDF also sent a fire engine, an ambulance, two fire bikes, two Red Rhinos and two support vehicles to the accident site.

One of the support vehicles was a Heavy Rescue Tender, according to Shin Min Daily News.

Police confirmed that the 69-year-old man lorry driver was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Investigations are ongoing.
