Husband of pregnant woman who died in Jurong West accident: "My daughter lost her mother on the eve of Mother's Day"

The husband of Goh Chieh Ting, a 25-year-old pregnant woman who died after getting knocked down by a lorry in Jurong West at about 8am last Saturday (May 13) is appealing to the public to donate breast milk and funds for his premature baby daughter.

The accident had left his wife with severe head injuries, and she was conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital to seek treatment.

When her heart stopped beating and she did not respond to treatment, doctors went forward with the decision to perform a caesarean section or C-section to save the baby, reports Lianhe Wanbao

The father of the child has decided to name his daughter ‘Yu En’, saying that despite being premature, Yu En is in a stable condition and has exhibited a strong will to live.

In an email which was sent to Lianhe Wanbao, the father wrote:

“My daughter lost her mother on the eve of Mother’s Day.”

He also said that since Yu En was a premature baby, she has to stay in the neonatal intensive care unit for the following three to four months.

Thus, he hopes that through various platforms, the public can contribute breast milk and donations for the hefty hospital bills.
