'Human pile-up' at Tampines 1 escalator after elderly man misses footing and falls

An elderly man lost his footing and fell while on an escalator at Tampines 1 shopping mall earlier today (Apr 23), causing other shoppers to get stuck.

A Stomper who filmed a Snapchat video of the incident had sent it to Stomp, and said that the incident happened at around 2.30pm.

Stomp understands that the escalator was functioning normally when the elderly man fell.

The incident caused a human pile-up at the end of the escalator.

Two women were also seen climbing up the downwards escalator so as to avoid the elderly man and crowd below.

Stomp understands that the man was conveyed to Changi General Hospital.
