Football coach poses as GF's ex and threatens to post her naked photo online

Posing as her ex-boyfriend, a football coach threatened to disseminate a woman's naked photo on the Internet.

Shamsudin Salleh, 42, was in a relationship with Ms Anisa Majeni, 34. They were having relationship issues and he wanted to teach her a lesson.

Investigations showed that Ms Anisa was at home on July 23 last year (2016) when she received a WhatsApp text from a person calling himself "Riski".

Initially, Riski tried to befriend her but later threatened to disseminate naked photos of her that he claimed to have.

Five days later, he sent her similar messages, threatening to spread her naked photos online.

On Aug 18, posing as Riski yet again, he messaged Ms Anisa, who thought that Riski was a former boyfriend. She considered getting back together with him and mending things between them.

The next day, Riski told Ms Anisa that as a guarantee, she had to give him $3,000 initially, and another $1,000 the following day. Both amounts were to be left at the doorstep of her unit in Sengkang.

Ms Anisa then got Shamsudin himself to leave the $3,000 cash there on Aug 19. He took the money and deposited it into his bank account.

Shamsudin's lawyer Low Jianhui said in mitigation that the victim was his client's wife. They married in Batam a few months after they met.

He said his client suspected that she had sent pictures to other men and he had only wanted to frighten her.

"It was never his intention to financially profit from the offences," he added.

District Judge Low Wee Ping sentenced Shamsudin to four months' jail on each of the three charges he pleaded guilty to - two for criminal intimidation and one of cheating.

He ordered two sentences to run consecutively, and backdated his eight-month sentence to his remand on Sept 8 last year.

Shamsudin could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined for each charge of criminal intimidation; and up to 10 years and fined for cheating.
