Woman in shock after dog dies 2 days into stay at Joo Chiat pet kennel

A woman, distraught by the loss of her pet dog, took to Facebook to share what happened.

Facebook user Gina Kang Yen Ling had sent her dog Luffie to a pet kennel in Joo Chiat before going on a short trip.

However, she was shocked when she received a call just two days later from the kennel telling her that her dog and died "suddenly and very peacefully".

"We did not expect Luffie to die because he was healthy and also very active," she wrote.

She demanded an explanation on how her dog had died and said that the staff simply replied that they did not know.

She added that she was only notified at 3.30pm when Luffie had died at 12pm.

"We really want to know how our dog died and get justice back for my dog," Gina wrote.

She proceeded to warn others about the kennel and said she is reporting the matter to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA).

In response to Stomp's media queries, an AVA spokesman provided the following response:

"AVA is investigating the death of a dog at Benji Pet Kennel.

"While investigation is ongoing, we will appreciate if the public refrain from speculation.

"Members of the public who have information on this case (e.g. photographic or video evidence, witnesses, etc) can contact AVA at 1800-476-1600. All information provided will be kept in strict confidence."
