Woman in China gets cash from purse returned – a decade after she lost it

Chinese news reports stated that a woman in eastern China was returned her purse, with the cash inside, a decade after she lost it.

The woman lost the purse, along with her bank and identity cards, about 10 years ago when she was working in Nanjing in Jiangsu province.

However, she did not report the loss of the purse and 268 yuan (SGD$54) to the police and later moved to neighbouring Anhui province.

What she did not know was that a man found the purse at the time, but forgot about it after taking it home.

He then found it last year while moving homes and handed it to over to a policeman in Nanjing.

The police officer was able to track the woman down using her identity card, reports South China Morning Post.

The woman was hesitant to travel back to Nanjing to reclaim her belongings and such a comparatively small amount of money.

Police solved this by sending the money back to her through her account on WeChat.
