Well done, kind 'angmo' for giving free food to needy aunties and uncles at Block 208A Tampines

Stomper Zaza came across a kind Caucasian man handing out food packets to elderly residents at the void deck of Block 208A in Tampines Avenue 2.

In a telephone interview, the Stomper said that the man first unloaded four big plastic bags out of a car. She believes that there were around 10 food packets in each bag.

He then placed them on a table at void deck. Thereafter, senior citizens started collecting the food packets and thanking the man.

Zaza did not get a chance to speak to the Good Samaritan, but described him as an extremely jovial individual. She is also unclear if he represented any organisation.

The man left shortly after delivering the food packets.

A check on the HDB website revealed that flats in Block 208A is listed under the Public Rental Scheme.

Flats under the scheme are heavily subsidised to cater to Singapore citizen households who have no other housing options. Applicants' total household gross income cannot exceed $1,500 per month.

Said the Stomper with regard to what she saw:

"I am proud of what he has done.

"It is certainly an eye-opener, especially since he is an 'ang mo'."
