Singaporean tourist, 73, missing in Pulau Tioman

A Singaporean tourist has been reported missing since Wednesday afternoon in Pulau Tioman.

According to The Star, Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Anuar Hassan said Thursday that 14 personnel and officers had been mobilised in a search operation with the police to look for Sinar Widjoyo Tugi, 73.

He was last seen at a resort in Kampung Paya on the island.

According to The Straits Times, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware of the missing person report and is providing assistance to the family.

"The Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Bahru is in contact with the family of the missing Singaporean and will continue to provide them with the necessary consular assistance," said a ministry spokesman.

"The Consulate-General is also in contact with the local authorities who are continuing their search for the missing Singaporean."
