Man finds piece of plastic in curry rice from stall at Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre and Market

Stomper Jeremy was appalled to find a piece of plastic in his curry rice from a stall at Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre and Market earlier this week.

Officially opened on Dec 29 last year, the new food haunt is Bukit Panjang's first hawker centre and managed by NTUC Foodfare.

Raising concerns about the lapses in food-handling, Jeremy said:

"Found this BIG piece of foreign object in my curry rice in a newly-opened hawker centre in Bukit Panjang.

"Surprisingly when I approached the staff, they continued selling the remaining vegetables instead of discarding them.

"Surely food-handling processes must be reviewed to be more stringent."

Jeremy added that he has informed the National Environment Agency (NEA) about the incident. He also received a letter of apology from NTUC Foodfare.

However, his concern lies with how the stall's employees had responded to the incident and apparent lapses in the handling of food.
