Stomper Maisy spotted these bizarre-looking insects on a glass display at Katong Plaza yesterday (May 23).
The creatures -- which were moving -- resembled cockroaches, but were black and red-coloured.
Said the Stomper:
"Spotted these two insects on a glass at Katong Plaza.
"Thought it was part of the display until they moved when I closed in.
"Never seen such insects in Singapore before. It's both nice and weird."
A search online reveals that the insects in question are Red Bugs, also known as 'Cenaeus carnifex'.
According to reports, they are small and encountered in groups on seed heads of herbaceous plants, often in mated pairs.
