A tipper truck overturned on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) today (Sep 22) at around 4am, causing a heap of pebbles to scatter across the road.

Stomper Cheers was passing by the scene of the accident when he took a photo and shared it with Stomp.

The tipper truck was on its side and workers were seen sweeping up the fallen pebbles while police and Land Transport Authority (LTA) officers were cordoning off the area and directing traffic.

"The first and second lanes were blocked and traffic could only pass through on the third lane," said Cheers.

"There was a terrible jam that lasted a few hours."

Stomper Dean also shared videos of the overturned tipper truck with Stomp.

In one of them, a crane is seen pushing the truck back upright again.

In response to Stomp's media queries, a police spokesman issued the following lines:

"On 22 September 2017 at 4.07am, the police were alerted to an accident involving a tipper truck along PIE towards Changi before Kallang Way exit.

"A 56-year-old male driver was conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Police investigations are ongoing."
