This Hermes handbag was sold for a whopping $525,000 at a HK auction

If you had SGD$525,000 to spare, what would you do?

One individual in Hong Kong decided to spend that amount of money (HK$2.94 million) on a Hermes handbag in an auction in Hong Kong.

The purchase was made after an intense bidding showdown that lasted up to 15 minutes, reports Shanghaiist.

Before the auction, the rare Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Diamond Birkin 30 with 18k White Gold and Diamond Hardware was described by the auctioneers as "the most desirable handbag in existence".

It was predicted to fetch between HK$1.5 million (SGD$265,917) to HK$2 million (SGD$354,557), so the final price it fetched came as a surprise to everyone.

The bag is from a rare line from Hermes, and a new one would put you one a six-year waiting list.

Also, the buyer's identity remains a secret.
