Teen arrested for negligence and causing hurt in Woodlands e-scooter collision that left boy injured

A 17-year-old was arrested for negligent act causing hurt in relation to an e-scooter accident in Woodlands.

In a statement, the police said that they received a report of a collision between an e-scooter and a 6-year-old boy in the vicinity of Block 889A Woodlands Drive 50.

The boy was injured following the collision and was conveyed to Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Through extensive follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police Cameras (POLCAM), officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him on Oct 25.

An electric scooter believed to have been used in the commission of the offence was seized as a case exhibit.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Under Section 337(b) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, first-time offenders found guilty will be liable to a fine of up to $1,500 or to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 months, or to both.
