Teen arrested after claiming to sell game accessories, but allegedly cheated customers instead

A 16-year-old youth was arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in a series of cheating cases.

In an official statement, the police said it had received two reports from victims saying that they had been cheated by an unknown youth claiming to sell virtual game accessories in exchange for cash.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had arranged for a meet-up with the victims, and distracted them after they paid him, before fleeing.

Officers from the Tanglin Police Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested the suspect on Feb 12.

The suspect will be charged in court on Feb 13, with the offence of cheating.

If convicted, he could be jailed up to 10 years and also fined.
