Stomper Jason wishes to commend a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer who rode down Lornie Trail at Macritchie Reservoir to come to the aid of a man who had collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest on June 3.

Jason told Stomp that the officer rode through 1.6km of "very muddy, slippery trail with steep hills" to get to the man.

Jason said that the man had collapsed at about 12.05pm and had hit his head.

"I left the victim to climb out of Lornie Trail to Lornie Road to see if I could guide the first responder to the victim," said Jason.

"After waiting along Lornie Road for about five minutes and not seeing any ambulance, I went back down to Lornie Trail.

"By the time I reached the trail, the man had been evacuated by boat.

"Salute to the SCDF officer for going above and beyond the call of duty!"

In response to Stomp's media queries, an SCDF spokesman said that they were alerted to the incident at 12.30pm.

"A Chinese man was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the hospital was alerted to be on standby to receive the patient," said the spokesman.

Stomp understands that the man had suffered a cardiac arrest.
