A 54-year-old woman has died after a fire broke out in a building opposite IMM in Jurong East today (May 4) at around 7.40am.

Responding to a Stomp query, a Police spokesperson said:

"On May 4 at around 7.38am, the Police were alerted to a case of fire at 30 Toh Guan Road.

"A 54-year-old woman was unconscious when conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead.

"Police are investigating the unnatural death."

A fire broke out at a warehouse cum office complex at 30 Toh Guan Road opposite IMM at around 7.40am today (May 4).

Stompers Dean, Jackson, Ariadne, Jolene, Ivan, Zack, Amoz, John, Fairoz and NoorWhirlzWindz alerted Stomp to the fire and sent in videos and photos taken at the scene.

In the videos, the fire is seen to have spread through the height of the building and pieces of flaming debris can be seen falling to the ground.

Many of the Stompers who sent in videos were driving and had noticed the thick black smoke from a distance before coming close and taking footage of the fire.

Zack could even see the smoke from his home at Jurong East Street 21.

According to a statement posted by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), 50 people were evacuated by SCDF and police and a woman in her 50s was conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for burn injuries.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters within 40 minutes.
