PM Lee celebrates 65th birthday with entire Parliament in attendance

There were smiles and laughter all around as Parliament celebrated Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s 65th birthday in advance yesterday (Feb 7) during their coffee break.

Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin posted a Facebook Live video of the birthday party, which took place three days ahead of PM Lee’s birthday on Friday (Jan 10).

In the video, Parliament sings the Happy Birthday song for PM Lee, and urge him to blow out the candles on the cake and make two wishes.

After doing so, PM Lee thanks those who are present and says:

“In the spirit of inclusiveness, this is to all those whose birthdays are in February.”

This prompts several Members of Parliament to look at Health Minister Gan Kim Yong, who turns 58 today (Feb 8).

However, Mr Gan jokingly says:

“I’m not 65 yet.”

Mr Tan was not the only MP who shared the joyous celebrations on Facebook. Minister of State of Trade and Industry and National Development Koh Poh Koon also posted a photograph of PM Lee at the celebration on his Facebook page yesterday.

Singaporeans who commented on both Mr Tan and Mr Koh's Facebook posts wished PM Lee happy returns and good health.
