Lorry driver arrested after 24-year-old motorcyclist dies in accident on PIE

A lorry driver was arrested following an accident on the PIE today (Feb 24) at around 6.15am that left a 24-year-old motorcyclist dead.

Said a Police spokesperson with regard to what happened:

"On 24 February 2017, the Police were alerted to an accident involving a lorry and a motorcycle along PIE towards Tuas near Adam Flyover.

"The 24-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

"The lorry driver was arrested for causing death by negligent act.

"Police investigations are ongoing."

Stomper Din was on the PIE near Adam Road today (Feb 24) at around 7.30am when he saw a death tent and a fallen motorcycle on the road.

The Stomper was unclear about what happened, but he said both the tent and the vehicle were on the right-most lane of the expressway.

Din saw policemen at the scene as well as Traffic Police officers diverting traffic.

Part of the expressway was cordoned off and there was a traffic jam following the accident.
