Van driver arrested after 2 die and 5 get injured in accident involving multiple motorcycles on BKE

A van driver was arrested after two men were killed and five were sent to hospital after a crash involving multiple vehicles on BKE.

Stompers Chee Kiang, Noor, Dean and Edwin alerted Stomp to an accident that left at least six motorcyclists injured today (Sat, Mar 11) afternoon.

Multiple Stompers also said they received videos of the crash.

An SCDF spokesperson said that it was alerted to the road traffic accident at 3.50pm today at BKE towards Woodlands near the SLE exit.

"The paramedics pronounced two male Chinese dead upon arrival and conveyed five casualties to Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital," said the spokesperson. 

The motorcyclists who died were aged 34 and 50.

The 25-year-old van driver was arrested for rash act causing death.

His driving licence will be suspended with immediate effect, the police said.

The videos were accompanied by messages that stated that the motorcyclists had sought shelter under the SLE bridge towards Woodlands.

However, they had allegedly been struck by the passing van, reports Lianhe Zaobao.

Two death tents were spotted in viral photos of the crash.

Another video, posted by Facebook user Aishah Osman, shows police vehicles and an ambulance at the scene,

At least nine motorcycles can be seen at the side of the road, and some of them had toppled over and looked damaged.
