Singapore Press Holdings clinches 6 awards at The Spark Awards 2017

Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH), Asia’s leading media company, clinched six awards at The Spark Awards 2017. The awards were presented at the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner at InterContinental Singapore yesterday (Aug 18).

The Spark Awards, organised by Marketing Magazine, is the definitive platform for media owners and solution providers across different verticals to showcase their innovation, effectiveness, and value proposition to advertisers, agencies and clients.

SPHMBO, SPH’s outdoor advertising arm, won a Gold Award for Best Media Solution - Experiential and Silver Award for Best Media Solution - Out of Home for its "SK-II Dream Again - Digital Dream Wall" campaign.

The successful campaign gave a big push on outdoor, activating a prominent screen wrap & digital ad spots featuring SK-II Dream Again film on Chevron House's large format LED screen. The creative execution drove awareness and inspired SK-II's prime audience of PMEBs to join the event held at Raffles Place.

AsiaOne was shortlisted for three categories at this year's Spark Awards: Best Corporate Branding by a Media Owner, Best Website by a Media Owner, and Most Improved Offering by a Media Owner.

The social news site bagged a Silver Award for Best Website by a Media Owner and a Bronze Award for Best Corporate Branding by a Media Owner.

AsiaOne relaunched in May 2017 as a social news website, using the latest technologies to curate and personalise news and content for its readers in Singapore and the region. As the primary content aggregator for SPH’s publications, AsiaOne will continue to feature stories from The Straits Times, The New Paper, The Business Times and Stomp, while also syndicating content from SPH’s stable of magazines.

SPH’s FastJobs app, a mobile platform for job seekers to search for temporary, contract, non-executive and part-time jobs, clinched a Bronze Award in the “Best App by a Media Owner” category. Packed with essential functionalities, the mobile app simplifies and fast-tracks the job search and application process for job seekers. The FastJobs app was awarded a Gold in the same category at The Spark Awards 2016.

SPH also won a Bronze Award in the “Best Media Solution – Print” category for its "Singapore Airlines to Stockholm" print ad, which appeared in The Straits Times. The creative buy was cleverly created by SPH CreativeLAB which required readers fold the ad to form a full picture of Gamla Stan, an iconic building in Stockholm. The success of this campaign highlighted how with creativity, the newspaper is a powerful, effective and engaging advertising platform.

Mr Warren Fernandez, Editor-in-Chief of SPH’s English/Malay/Tamil Media group and Editor of The Straits Times, said: “We are delighted to be honoured with these awards, which are recognition of our relentless efforts to keep improving our products to serve our readers' needs in a multimedia world.  Our readers are the real winners ultimately.”

Ms Elsie Chua, Chief Marketing Officer of SPH, said: "These accolades speaks volumes of SPH’s continuous drive to offer new and refreshing product and services for our readers and advertisers across multiple platforms. This is important as we face disruptive innovation and we will continue to excel in our media offerings and stay ahead of the competition."

Ms Karen Lim, editor at AsiaOne, said: "Winning these awards is a nod to the hard work over the past few months to deliver a brand new site with engaging content to our readers. We are honoured and humbled by this recognition, and the team will continue to do its best in creating and curating trending topics within Asia."
