A prime mover caught fire on the Central Expressway (CTE) on Monday afternoon (Sep 16).

Stompers Adriano and CCK alerted Stomp to the fire and shared photos and videos they took of the burning vehicle.

Adriano spotted smoke coming from the expressway from his home at Ang Mo Kio.

"I heard sirens and saw that there was a fire on the CTE," he said.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they responded to a fire along the CTE towards the city after Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 at about 5.05pm.

"The fire, which involved the engine compartment of a prime mover was extinguished by SCDF using one compressed air foam jet and one hose reel," an SCDF spokesman said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
