Porsche ploughs through road sign, power box and tree at Serangoon Gardens, causes blackout for 44 households

Households along five streets in Serangoon Gardens were plunged into darkness after a Porsche crashed into a power box last Friday (July 28) and caused a power outage.

The incident happened at about 6pm along Carisbrooke Grove, reports Lianhe Wanbao via Lianhe Zaobao.

During the accident, the vehicle crashed into a road sign, a power box and a tree in quick succession.

A spokesman for Singapore Powers said they were alerted to the power outage at about 6.19pm.

The dislodged power box affected 44 households along Braemar Drive, Conway Grove, Brockhampton Drive, Chartwell Drive, and Carisbrooke Grove.

A mobile generator was set up at 6.30pm to provide temporary power to the households, with a second one being deployed at 6.40pm.

Power was restored at 8.40pm after reparation of the power box.

In response to media queries, a police spokesman said that a 44-year-old man has been arrested for drink driving, and no one was hurt in the incident.

The case is currently under investigation.
