The police have confirmed that there is no attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old boy along Jurong West Street 72.

This was after a police report regarding an alleged kidnapping attempt in the area made its rounds on social media.

Stomper Shaa sent us photos of the police report that was circulating.

The police report said that alleged abduction occurred on Jan 23 when a 10-year-old boy and his friend were walking towards the traffic junction along Jurong West Street 72.

A grey van was said to have stopped next to them. The van driver then told the boy to get into the vehicle, lying to him that he was instructed by his parent to do so.

Afraid, the two boys then ran home and later met the boy's maid at the void deck, the report said.

In a Facebook post on Jan 24, the police said, "We have verified that the report is untrue and the boy had lied to his parents."

The police also added that they treat such reports seriously.

"At the same time, we urge members of the public not to speculate or spread unsubstantiated information which may generate unnecessary public alarm," the statement said.
