Passers-by and SCDF officers fight raging car fire at Bukit Timah

A car burst into flames in front of 7 Jalan Bingka on Wednesday (April 11) at about 12.05pm, with the fire subsequently extinguished by firefighters from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Stomper was alerted to the incident by a Stomper who was having a meal brunch with a friend in the vicinity.

Videos of the fire were also uploaded by Facebook user KP Lau.

In the videos, thick billows of smoke could be seen from the car SJG7042C, as some workers attempted to put out the fire using a hose and an extinguisher.

A man in a black shirt is also seen spraying water at the burning car, while another man wearing a blue T-shirt, seemingly the driver of the car, opens a door to retrieve a bag.

In another video, SCDF officers are seen attending to the fire, and the flames are finally extinguished.

In response to a Stomp query, an SCDF spokesman said that the SCDF responded to a case of vehicle fire in front of 7 Jalan Bingka at 1.30pm on April 11.

The fire was extinguished by SCDF using two compressed air foam backpacks and one water jet.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
