We are all familiar with people using tissue packets to "chope" a place to sit during the peak periods of lunch and dinner, but now, people have progressed to using name cards to reserve a place while they queue for food.

A Stomper saw a table with name cards and tissue packets spread around it at VivoCity's food court yesterday and was upset.

"I saw that every table kena chope.

"Imagine if you have already queued for food but there is not a table to sit at to enjoy it.

"I hope this stupid idea will not continue in the future."

The concept of chope-ing is uniquely Singaporean and has been around for a long time.

Our advice is if you can't beat them, join them.

Remember to always have a packet of tissue or name card handy to chope your own seat when eating out, guys!
