The mother of the child who was attacked by a man while visiting a mini-mart at Block 182A Rivervale Crescent told Stomp that she and her family have been left shaken by the experience.

The incident was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, which showed the 5-year-old boy, Jovian getting kicked by the man while riding a scooter.

The boy ran out to Vivien’s domestic helper waiting outside the shop, and the man also walked away but returned to slap him in the face.

During an interview with Stomp, Vivien said that she has read about the police statement and understands why the man had not been arrested, despite the action being caught on CCTV.

Fortunately, she said, her son did not suffer serious injuries, although his face is still a little red.

Vivien said that she was grateful to her maid for stepping up to defend his son against the man.

However, she and her husband would keep an eye on her son to prevent him from going down to the shop, in the event he runs into the man again.

Said Vivien:

“The incident has come to rest without my son being seriously hurt.

“We’ve taken statements at the police station, and we hope the police will conclude their investigations quickly.”
