Men throw punches and chairs at one another in riot at Bendemeer Food Centre

A riot involving several men broke out at Bendemeer Food Centre on Tuesday (May 1) at around 9pm.

Stomper Darren shared a video of the fight taken by his friend.

According to the Stomper's friend, the men involved in the scuffle had been drinking before they started getting violent.

"My friend said that the fight was between one group of older men and another group of younger men," said Darren.

It is unclear what the fight was about.

In response to Stomp's media queries, a police spokesman said that they were alerted to a case of rioting at Block 27 Bendemeer Road on May 1 at 8.55pm.

In the video, the men can be seen shouting and throwing punches at each other.

Some of the men are seen carrying chairs picked up from the food centre and using them to hit others.

One guy is seen lying on the ground amidst the dispute and is finally helped up by a couple of men towards the end of the video.

The sound of glass shattering can also be heard in the background.

Police investigations are ongoing.
