Man who allegedly broke into Beach Road shop and stole $200 arrested

A 24-year-old man, who is believed to be involved in a case of housebreaking and theft by night, has been arrested.

On July 27 at about 10.51am, the police received a report that a shop located along Beach Road had been broken into.

Cash amounting to $200 was stolen from the store.

Through extensive ground enquiries and investigative follow-up, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the suspect. He was arrested along Beach Road on July 28 at about 2.30pm.

The suspect was charged in court yesterday (July 29) with the offence of housebreaking and theft by night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

If found guilty, he faces a jail term of not less than two years and not more than 14 years.
