Man fined $6,000 for wrapping cat in masking tape after it allegedly urinated in his home

A 30-year-old man was fined $6,000 for animal cruelty after he wrapped a stray cat in masking tape after it allegedly entered his home.

Li Xiaojing claimed that the cat had urinated in his home and he taped it to facilitate its removal from his residence, said the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) said in a release yesterday (Aug 23).

Facebook community group Yishun 326 Tabby Cat wrote in a post on Feb 1 that the cat was found with its body wrapped tightly in the tape by a member of the public at Ubi Avenue 1.

The white cat was named Jon Snow by its rescuer, after a character in fantasy drama series Games Of Thrones.

It was taken to Mount Pleasant Veterinary Group to have the tape removed.

The tape around Jon Snow was so tight that the cat had to be sedated before a vet could remove it.
