Man arrested for cheating telco of 5 phones through forged applications for mobile plans

A 24-year-old man has been arrested by the police for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases involving smartphones.

On Feb 6, the police received a report from a local telco that man had submitted forged applications to apply for high value mobile phone service plans to get the mobile phones that came free with the plans.

In total, five smartphones worth $5,000 had been delivered to him.

The suspect was arrested on the following day on Feb 7 along Bukit Batok West Avenue 5 after extensive follow-up investigations from officers.

He will be charged in court on Feb 8 for the offence of cheating.

If convicted, he could be jailed for up to 10 years and also fined.
