Man arrested after trying to set fire at SPC petrol kiosk in Tampines

A 27-year-old man has been for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted mischief by fire at SPC Petrol Kiosk along Tampines Avenue 4.

The police said in a news release that they were alerted to a man threatening staff at the kiosk on Feb 28.

The man had allegedly tried to start a fire using a lighter and an aerosol can.

Officers from Bedok Police Division subsequently established the identity of the man and arrested him yesterday (March 1) in the vicinity of Sims Place.

The suspect will be charged in court today (March 2).

If convicted, he will be liable to life imprisonment or imprisonment for up to 10 years, and a fine.
