Many people might feel awkward or even irritated when someone intrudes into their personal space. But that is only a normal instinct.

A kind commuter on Bus 28, however, did not even flinch when a tired young student fell asleep on his shoulder.

Stomper M.Ariff came across the heartwarming sight yesterday evening (July 28) at around 6pm and said the stranger had initially offered the boy his shoulder.

The latter politely declined, but ended up falling asleep anyway.

M.Ariff, who told Stomp in a phone interview that the two did not know each other, said:

"A young boy, believed to be in primary school and on his way home, was seen falling asleep on Bus 28.

"He seemed to be very, very tired and fell asleep, slanting towards the aisle where he was in a position in which he could fall off from his seat anytime.

"A kind teenager beside him realised that he may injure himself and offered him his shoulders to lie on for a better sleep.

"This is something I would like to bring up because as a public transport user, I realised that quite a number of people get irritated when someone keeps falling asleep against them.

"Simple actions like this can make a better day for someone."
