Fire engine spotted at Blk 280 Tampines St 22: Smell of gas present in the air, but no fire

Stomper Sim saw a fire engine at the ground floor of Block 280 Tampines Street 22 today (Mar 13).

According to the Stomper, he saw the fire engine at about noon, and the smell of gas was present in the air near a laundry shop at the block.

In the photos the Stomper contributed, a fire engine can be seen in an open carpark while passers-by look on. Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel can be seen entering a shop on the first floor of the HDB block.

The Stomper said:

"I wonder if gas was used for the washing machines at the self-service laundry shop?"

The SCDF clarified with Stomp that two fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and SCDF personnel shut off the gas valve at the back of the coffee shop of the block.

There was no fire and no injuries were reported.
