Horrifying moment Australian tourist falls to death while parasailing at Phuket beach

A 71-year-old Australian man, Roger Hussey, plunged 30m to his death in a parasailing accident at Kata beach in Phuket, Thailand on Wednesday (July 12).

A video of the tragedy was captured by the victim’s wife, Budsabong Thongsangka, and the footage was uploaded online.

In the video, Roger was seen falling shortly after lift-off, just 13 seconds into the flight.

Local media reported that the victim had mistakenly pulled on a hook which released his harness.

After the victim fell, many beachgoers quickly rushed over to offer assistance.

According to Everyday SG, Roger was barely conscious had breathing difficulties after getting pulled from the sea.

Karon Police Station duty officer, Police Lieutenant Suwisit Khirirak said that he died shortly after.

The boat operator and driver Mothian Jandaeng has been charged by the police, reports News and The Coverage.

Roger and his wife were reportedly on a holiday in Chiang Mai before travelling to Phuket.
