Heroic Tesla driver sacrifices his car to save unconscious Volkswagen driver in Germany

Manfred Kick, 41, was driving on the Autobahn near Munich, Germany, when he noticed a Volkswagen car that was moving erratically and slamming against the guardrail.

Upon a closer look, he saw that the driver had fallen unconscious.

Left with no other option, Manfred pulled his Tesla Model S in front of the Volkswagen, allowing the Volkswagen to hit his Tesla’s rear bumper so that he could bring both cars to a stop.

He called for emergency services, before entering the Volkswagen and administering first aid to the unconscious driver.

The 47-year-old driver of the Volkswagen had likely suffered a stroke, according to Muenchner Merkur via Jalopnik. Police said he was in stable condition at a hospital.

The damages sustained by both cars from Manfred’s heroic move came up to about S$15,000, but Tesla Inc. co-founder Elon Musk said in a series of tweets that Tesla would be covering all repair costs from the accident.

According to the Tesla website, a Tesla Model S like the one which Manfred was driving costs upwards of S$110,000.
