Stomper Syuaib was surprised when he came across a group of wild boars near the entrance to MacRitchie Reservoir along Upper Thomson Road on Oct 18 at around 2.30pm.

He told Stomp that it was the first time he saw wild boars in the area.

"I hope that these wild boars do not attack people because I saw quite a few cyclists in the area," said the Stomper.

According to NParks, this is what you should do when you encounter wild boars:

Be calm and move slowly away from the animal. Do not approach or attempt to feed the animal.

Keep a safe distance and do not corner or provoke the animal i.e. by using a flash while taking pictures of it.

If you see adults with young piglets, leave them alone. These are potentially more dangerous because they may attempt to defend their young.
