Grab app down on Tuesday night due to 'problems with underlying infrastructure'

The Grab app was down on Tuesday night (April 3) due to problems with the underlying infrastructure, says Grab.

Starting around 8pm, many users started experiencing problems while using the app.

For some the screen showed up blank and greyed out at the bottom where the "Book" button is usually located, while others received a message saying:

“Looks like we weren’t able to connect to our server. Please try again in a few minutes.”

Many Stompers also alerted Stomp to the incident.

Stomper Rock, a Grab driver also shared with Stomp a message which he got from Grab at around 9.56pm.

The message read:

"Dear Partner, due to a technical issue, you may not be able to receive or complete bookings as per normal.

"We are working hard to fix the issue and will be back to serve you as soon as we can.

"Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your support.”

The issue was also experienced in Malaysia, reports The Straits Times

In response to a Stomp query, a Grab spokesman said:

“We apologise that users were not able to use our services yesterday.

“The app was down due to problems with our underlying infrastructure, and our third-party infrastructure providers are immediately fixing the problems on their platforms."
